Antenatal/Postnatal Promotional Guides

This learning material supports the two-day Antenatal/Postnatal Promotional Guide System training run by the Centre for Parent and Child Support, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation trust.

The Promotional Guide System provides a structured but flexible approach to help support:

  • the early development of babies
  • the transition of mothers and fathers to parenthood
  • both professionals and parents to identify and make well-informed decisions about the needs of the baby and the family.

The system originated from the European Early Promotion Project and has been further developed based on findings from developmental science, research on early parenthood and extensive experience of professionals in the field. It is recommended in the UK government’s Healthy Child Programme and used widely by health visitors in the UK and child and family nurses internationally.

This e-learning material supports attendees on the training, including:

  • slides of the training presentation for reference
  • structured feedback forms to help participants reflect on their first attempts to use the promotional guides with families.

The e-learning material is only available to people participating on this specific training.  If you have registered to attend the training, simply click on 'Enrol' below to access the material, or click 'View course' if you are returning to view the material again.
