Introduction to Radiology

This resource provides a general introduction to the principles of radiology – how X-rays create images and the risks involved – and a thorough step-by-step guide to recognising and interpreting both anatomical structures and therapeutic devices on X-ray films.

The following three units include many sample X-rays for practice in interpreting them.

  1. Radiation Safety and Protection (5-10 min)
  2. Interpreting a Chest X-ray (20-30 min)
  3. Recognising Lines and Tubes (20-30 min)

The resource was developed by Dr Pamela Allen and Dr Lisa Meacock, Consultant Radiologists at King’s College Hospital, with Amandeep Cheema in King's College London's Virtual Campus and Technology Enhanced Learning Unit.
