Mental Health Skills for Non-Mental Health Professionals

Many general hospital patients also have mental health problems such as dementia, delirium, depression or anxiety. These patients often have longer hospital stays and poorer physical health outcomes.

IMPARTS is an initiative funded by King’s Health Partners to improve mental healthcare provision within medical settings. Their five-day course teaches health care professionals how to recognise, assess and manage common mental health disorders. These supporting online resources are available to all Learning Hub members; they include key readings, lecture handouts and videos of teaching sessions on the following topics:

  • Distressed, depressed and anxious patients
  • Managing conflict
  • Confused and agitated patients
  • Patients with medically unexplained symptoms
  • Substance-misusing patients
