The Resilience Challenge: Adapting Safely in Healthcare

When you are faced with challenges in healthcare, how do you move forward?

The Resilience Challenge game presents five brief scenarios, prompting players to think how they could safely handle common pressures and maintain patient safety. It was created by Jennifer Jackson, nurse and research student, for the Centre for Applied Resilience in Healthcare (CARe), with funding from King’s College London’s Cultural Institute.

CARe designed the game to raise awareness of the pressures that healthcare providers cope with, and the risks these challenges could create. It can be used to introduce the concept of ‘organisational resilience’ – and trigger conversations about how healthcare systems can be improved to make it easier for staff to care for patients safely.
