Consent to Donate Tissue or Cells for Human Application

khp1083c.png

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulates the use of tissues and cells for ‘human application’ (such as direct engraftment or as starting material for a cell therapy). Consent to donate tissue for these purposes may only be sought by authorised staff with appropriate training.

This online assessment provides a quick way for designated staff to demonstrate that their understanding of the HTA’s Code of Practice for consent is up to date.

There is also a self-paced tutorial for anyone who has not previously received training on this topic, which explains:

  • the key UK legislation around consent
  • what is considered ‘appropriate’ and ‘valid’ consent
  • the appropriate scope and duration of consent
  • good practice on where to take consent and how to record it.
