This course is intended for Post-graduate Paediatric doctors. Designed to provide skilled practice in challenging communications scenarios experienced in paediatrics; to improve the communication skills of paediatric doctors in training. This half-day training developed by the London School of Paediatrics is being offered to non-training grade paediatric doctors, including international medical graduates at GSTT and KCH. The course is designed to provide participants with more experience in challenging communications scenarios experienced in paediatrics.
Learning outcomes: develop knowledge, understanding and skills related to being able to communicate with patients and families especially in the context of complex or potentially challenging conversations.
The day is held virtually to accommodate social distancing rules but incorporates realistic scenarios routinely used in this programme, with a professional actor and facilitated by a trained debriefer. This day is designed to provide you with more experience in challenging communications scenarios experienced in paediatrics; it covers some of the most challenging communication skills that would be expected to be acquired training by a Paediatrician.

Dr Ajanta Kamal has trained in paediatrics since 2001. She has had a broad training in acute general paediatrics and has combined this with an interest in service development. Area of expertise: children's general medicine (paediatrics). In 2013 Ajanta completed the CLAHRC for north west London fellowship in Quality Improvement and Leadership skills. She started as a consultant at Evelina London Children’s Hospital in 2014.

Lucy is a consultant general paediatrician at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with interests in integrated care, child and adolescent public health, and improvement science. Lucy trained in paediatrics in London, gained a MPH from Harvard, and completed fellowships with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and with the Darzi programme.
